Antonio Sasso Painting After Vermeer

Antonio Sasso was a 19th Century prolific Italian copyist working in Florence, Italy. His paintings are listed at the Centennial Exhibit in Philadelphia, and he is well known for his copies of the old masters, such as this piece, possibly after Vermeer. Signed in ink on stretcher “A. Sasso & Son, Florence.” Painting is in a wonderful 18th Century carved and gilded Venetian frame. Professionally cleaned, oil on canvas, mounted on masonite.
